Research:
My current work on estuarine and coastal modeling does not fully reflect my past research interests so please have a look below to see what I was working on in the past. I am still highly interested in paleoclimate research and in particular how lake sediments and other "geologic recorders" can be used to reconstruct the past.

I still dabble in web-based teaching and scientific visualization. A teaching web-page I worked on while at CWR called Lake Green Slime was designed to teach junior and high school kids the importance of the catchment surrounding a lake. Some day I'd like to update it, and clean up the graphics, so that it better reflects some of the processes involved.

In June 1998 I finished a Masters Degree in Geology focusing on paleolimnolgy with Dr. Kerry Kelts at the Limnological Research Center (LRC). Below are a few items related to that research.
  • AMQUA 1996 Poster
  • AGU Spring 1998 Poster
  • The Introduction to my thesis
  • Nature Vol 399 29 July 1999 pg 437-440, "Abrupt changes in North American climate during the early Holocene times", FS Hu, D Slawinski, HE Wright Jr, E Ito, RG Johnson, KR Kelts, RF McEwan and A Boedigheimer
I have also done some work with others while at the University of Minnesota and elsewhere on web-based/multimedia methodologies for teaching/aiding students in learning geologic concepts. Below are a few items related to that aspect of my research.
