Simple Estuarine Response Model

Tidal range

(used for tidal and salt-wedge estuaries only).

The tidal range in metres at the mouth of the estuary. A major factor influencing the behaviour of an estuary is the rate at which it exchanges water with the adjacent coastal ocean. Tidal range is used to determine the exchange of estuarine water with oceanic water in tidal and saltwedge estuaries (see createbm description). Different ranges have been used for saltwedge estuaries (which tend to have smaller tidal ranges) and tidal estuaries.

Options for tidal estuaries (numerical)

small 1 - 3 metres [simulation value = 2 metres]
large 3 - 10 metres [simulation value = 5 metres]

Options for saltwedge estuaries (numerical)

small 0.5 - 1.5 metres [simulation value = 1 metres]
large 1.5 - 3 metres [simulation value = 2 metres]

How to specify: Either use tidal data measured at the mouth of the estuary, or lookup the AGSO's OzEstuaries database.
